Portugal is a coastal nation in south Western Europe. Most of Portugal has a temperate Mediterranean climate according to the Koppen climate classification. The annual average temperature in mainland Portugal varies from 12?13 C in the mountainous interior north to 17?18 C in the south. In general the south is warmer and drier than the north. Natural resources of Portugal are fish, forests, tungsten, iron ore, uranium ore, marble, arable land, hydroelectric power. Over the past decades, Portugal has made significant developments in their environmental protection. It is now working on the development of their Commitment for Green Growth which aims to decouple economic growth from resource use, promote energy efficiency and the identification of new growth opportunities.
